Prescriptions of the Past is a quest where the building matters more than the gunfight. Lance sends you into Spaceport's Departure Building to locate the Medical Exam Room and search its records, and the mission becomes much easier once you stop treating the location like a full loot sweep. Bring a loadout you can afford to lose, keep room for useful ARC Raiders Items, and plan your exit before you enter. The reward is solid, but the real test is staying focused in a busy interior.
The Route That Saves the Most Time
The Departure Building sits near the central Launch Towers on the western side of Spaceport. Its size makes the outside landmark easier to recognize than the correct room inside, so use the towers and the broad central streets to orient yourself before moving in. Once inside, head for the lobby staircase, go up one floor, and turn left at the top. From there, work toward the northern or northwestern corridor until you find the Medical Exam Room. From what I've seen, players lose more time checking random offices than they do dealing with ARC patrols.
Three Objectives, One Deployment
The quest has a simple sequence, but all of it needs to happen during the same round. Reaching the building only starts the task, and entering the exam room doesn't finish it. Use this order.
Visit the Departure Building in Spaceport.
Find the Medical Exam Room on the upper floor.
Search the medical records at the desk or nearby record position.
Inside the exam room, move beyond the examination tables and medical equipment. The interaction prompt should appear around a desk with papers or folders. If nothing triggers, check the adjacent room in the same section before heading back downstairs. Quest references point to more than one nearby placement, so a missing prompt usually means you haven't checked the entire exam-room area rather than the mission being broken.
Fast Run or Full Clear?
There are two sensible ways to approach the building. A focused run is better for pure progression, while a slower search makes sense when your squad needs medical supplies or general containers. The choice depends on noise, nearby movement, and the value of your current kit. I could be wrong but, at least in my experience, the building becomes much more dangerous after you linger, because every extra room adds another angle for an ARC unit or rival Raider.
| Approach | Best For | Main Risk |
|---|---|---|
| Focused route | Quest progress | Leaving useful loot behind |
| Partial search | Medical supplies and containers | Longer exposure indoors |
| Full clear | A quiet, high-value run | Getting trapped by new threats |
The Mistake Most Players Make
Don't search the records last. The moment the objective registers, your main reward is secured, and you can decide from a stronger position whether extra loot justifies staying. Also avoid sprinting blindly from the entrance to the stairs; pause long enough to listen, check sightlines, and identify a fallback doorway. A practical checklist is simple: enter with a disposable build, locate the stairs, confirm the upper-floor turn, complete the records interaction, then reassess your route out.
Rewards and Quest Progression
The current reward record lists one Heavy Shield, one Tactical Mk. 3 (Healing), and three Adrenaline Shots. Older references sometimes omit the Adrenaline Shots, so your in-game reward panel takes priority if the list differs. The mission follows A Warm Place To Rest and leads into Power Out, giving Lance's chain a useful shift from collection work to interior positioning. Once you have searched the records, extraction with a special quest item isn't required, though leaving with your loot is still the smart call. Prescriptions of the Past rewards discipline, and that same discipline matters when you later decide whether to buy ARC Coins for other Arc Raiders needs.
